Take some time to learn a little bit about your team.

Michelle A. Mitchell, MD
Family Medicine Physician
I am originally from Ohio, an area fondly and appropriately called the “snowbelt.” I received my Bachelor’s in Biology from Case Western Reserve University before starting medical training at the Medical University of Ohio. I moved to Hawaii in 2005 for residency at the University of Hawaii Family Medicine Residency, where I served as Chief Resident.
As a Board Certified Family Physician, I care for patients of all ages, as well as perform minor office procedures. I chose Family Medicine for its diverse scope of practice, and focus on the patient and disease effect on the family as opposed to focusing on the disease itself. I believe medicine is no longer a paternalistic practice, but collaboration between physician, patient and family. I have a particular interest in rheumatologic diseases and geriatrics, but the full scope of Family Medicine is what drew me to the rural communities of the Big Island.
While I have many interests and hobbies that I don’t have time for, my favorite pastime is spending time with my dogs, Moby and Kauopau. I have also been found taking dance lessons or desperately trying to convince my avocado tree to bear fruit.

Kimberly J. Cooper, Psy.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
I received my doctoral degree in 2002 from Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky. I am fortunate that I have had the opportunity to work with diverse populations, from inner city Chicago to the extensive rural and underserved populations both in Hawaii and in North Carolina. Prior to joining Hawaii Family Health, I was the Director of Behavioral Health Services at Bay Clinic, Inc., a Federally Qualified Health Center in East Hawaii.
I particularly enjoy working primarily with adults and some adolescents. People often seek therapy when they are experiencing depression, stress or anxiety, and relationship problems. My goal is to help people to reduce their suffering, improve their ability to cope with inevitable stressors, and to assist them in constructing fulfilling, joyful, and meaningful lives along with more satisfying relationships.
It has been about four years since I moved to Hilo with my husband. I have been fascinated as I experience more and more of this dynamic island, and every day I am grateful that our path has led us here. Outside of work - I enjoy exploring the island, practicing yoga and going to Zumba, traveling whenever possible, and spending time with our sweet and super-exuberant chiweenie (that’s half Chihuahua, half dachshund), Luna.

Sheareen Gedayloo, MD Family Medicine Physician
Aloha and a Great day to you!
I have spent most of my life in the Hawaiian Islands and Hawaii is home. I have lived mostly on the Island of Maui, and then moved to Kauai where I got married and my children were born. After a number of years I moved back to Maui to attend Maui Community College, and finished at University of Hawaii at Manoa.
I then moved to the East Coast and attended Medical School at Hahnemann University of Medicine (now Drexel U. College of Medicine). During Medical School I became a National Health Service Scholar with the commitment to practice medicine in a rural area with a high need for Primary Care Doctors. Because, of my desire to help patients of all ages, I went into Family Practice. I attended the University of California at Irvine Family Practice Residency Program. After, many years away from home (missing it badly) I came back to Hawaii to practice medicine and choose the Big Island because of its beauty and need for Primary Care Doctors.
My interest in health and love of the Human Body started at a young age, I started as a Massage Therapist. I wanted to learn more and help heal the body through other modalities so I went on to study Holistic Health and Naturopathic Medicine. I practiced holistic health for 22 years before going back to school to become a Medical Doctor. I strongly believe that Holistic/ Naturopathic and Allopathic (Western) Medicine have their place in healing our bodies.
My passion is to help educate my patients in choosing healthier lifestyles to prevent and maintain a happy healthy life. I believe true healing and health occurs when we have a balance in our physical, mental and spiritual beings. My commitment to my patients is to work with them to choose the best path to health.
Much Aloha , Peace and Health
